My Herb Garden
On a blisteringly hot day almost 30-years ago I headed out the door with only one thought in mind, planting an herb garden. The fact that the forecast warned of temperatures well into the 90’s didn’t matter. I had one day off that week and my wagon was loaded with an expensive assortment of 3” pots of tender herbs. Aborting the mission was not an option, and so shovel in hand, I began. By the time I had completed the job I thought I was going to die…right there in my pretty little garden. The chosen site was on the front lawn, right under my kitchen window. It received full sun for most of the day, would be easily accessible anytime I needed fresh herbs for the cookpot, and it could be seen and admired any time I happened to…

Blueberry Bread Pudding
Another blueberry dessert that is to die for is one of my own inventions, Blueberry Bread Pudding. It’s on the same order as the Blueberry Cobbler, but with a delicious bread pudding topping instead of cottage pudding. I hope you’ll try it and let me know how yours comes out. Blueberry Season
It’s blueberry season here in New England, and whether you pick your own as I do, or pick them up at local farm stands or super markets, it’s a shame to let the season slide by without making full use of this delicious treat.

Spring May Be Coming
It is early morning here in Cumberland, RI and although the thermometer reads 19 degrees, a glance around the yard gives me hope that spring may be coming. For one thing, for the first time in more than a month my back steps are totally clear of ice and snow. I had shoveled them several times but gave up when the surrounding snow was actually higher than the two wooden steps and it became easier to just walk across them when going to feed the critters. This morning I was actually able to make the trip in my slippers…without even getting wet.

Summer Morning Jamming
Summer is such a wonderful season what with the longer days, plentiful sunshine, warm weather, and vacations all over the place, but at the very top of my list of personal favorites is the abundance of farm fresh produce piled high at all the local farm stands, or perhaps right from home gardens if you have the space and have been blessed with a green thumb to go with it.
